What I Do
I work with people who are on the learning disability register.
I will work with a person to identify and work towards a goal or aim. I can support the person to help gain confidence by attending a group or activity with them.
I can either meet a person face to face or speak on the phone. We can work flexibly depending on the needs of the person.
How I Support Patients
My role is about making sure the practical, social and emotional needs that affect the health and wellbeing of people with a learning disability are met.
This can involve connecting people with organisations that can support them, or encouraging and empowering them.
I have worked with people who have a learning disability and autistic people for 16 years. I currently work at Skills for People, a charity who help people with a learning disability and autistic people with self-advocacy and knowing their rights.
