Kathryn McHarg
Social Prescribing Link Worker
Introduction
I’m Kathryn McHarg, Health Inequalities Project Manager for Gosforth and Jesmond Health.
I started work with the network in November 2019, having worked previously as a primary school teacher and as a communications manager for Calderdale and Kirklees Health Authority.
I have experience working with young people in many different ways, including being a qualified teen yoga coach.
What I Do
Health inequalities are unfair and avoidable differences in health across a population such as life expectancy, burden of disease and access to healthcare. The aim of my role, as Health Inequalities Project Lead, is to work with stakeholders, manage projects and develop recommendations and strategies to tackle and reduce health inequalities within Gosforth and Jesmond.
How I Support Patients
Although most of my role is strategic, I am responsible for engaging with patients, families, and carers, as needed, to ensure that the patient voice is valued and included when addressing health inequalities.
