What is a Virtual Engagement Event?
Virtual Engagement Events (VEEs) are online sessions you can join from home.
By joining a video call, you can hear from our healthcare team without needing to visit your GP practice – and hopefully at a time that suits you.
It’s also a way for us to speak with several patients at the same time who may have the same condition or be dealing with similar symptoms – an approach that more parts of the NHS are starting to use.
Menopause VEE – Tuesday 21st April, 6.30 pm
Join Dr Sarah Rae and our network team on Tuesday 21st April you can join from 6.15 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

How Virtual Engagement Events work
Once you’ve signed up, we’ll send you a link to join us online.
It all happens in your web browser – there is nothing to download, and no passwords or login details to set up and remember.
We’d recommend joining us on a PC or laptop – it’ll be easier to see the presentations and take part in polls and surveys.
Microphones will be turned off by default, and if you can turn off your camera, please do so.
We’ll explain how the session works, what the presentation will cover, and how to ask questions.
What Happens During the Event?
The event is designed to give you general information and answer some common questions.
Dr Sarah Rae, a GP and menopause expert, will talk through the different stages of menopause, what to expect, and ways to manage symptoms.
There will be anonymous polls during the session for you to share how you’re feeling, your main challenges, and for others to share their feelings and thoughts too
Dr Rae will also explain the range of options available to help manage symptoms – from medical treatments such as HRT, to simple lifestyle changes like diet, movement, sleep, and stress management.
The session aims to give you clear, practical information so you can better understand your choices and feel more confident about the next steps.
More Personalised Support
If you’re looking for more personalised support, our Group Consultations offer something a little different. They are similar to a one-to-one appointment, but with added benefits:
- A 1½ hour session in a small group of around 10 people
- Time for each person to have their own consultation with the doctor
- The chance to listen and learn from others’ experiences
- Helpful tips on managing menopause symptoms day to day
- A safe space to share, if you feel comfortable
Here’s what patients who have attended Menopause Group Consultation Appointments told us:
100%
Rated the session as Good or Very Good.
94%

97%

85%%

At the end of the event, we’ll let you know how to join a Group Consultation Appointment.

Menopause Cafe is a relaxed and friendly place to chat about menopause. People come together to share thoughts, ask questions, or just listen. Everyone is welcome – whatever your age or gender.
There is no set plan and no pressure to talk. There is also no advice or products being promoted. It is simply a safe space to have open, honest conversations and learn from each other. Tea, coffee and cake are provided.
Their next session is on Wednesday 29th April, 12 – 1.30pm at Cobalt Management Office, 4 Silverfox Way, Cobalt Business Park, Newcastle, NE27 0QU. There is no need to book – just drop in. You can find the venue next door to Greggs.
